They are always inside of the baffle of the tank, which means they aren’t too accessible, but you still can reach them with the right tools. Thanks to their location, they play one of the most important roles in a septic system.

They help to regulate the flow to the area of drainage, without them, your tank can have several issues.

Filters need to be cleaned occasionally you can do it while someone is pumping or cleaning your septic tank. However, you can also take a few minutes and do it yourself. If the filters aren’t clean the waste of the water will plug up the drainage. 

Why do you want to know the septic tank filter location? Obviously to clean it when it is necessary, or maybe replace it. The only tools you need for this are a screwdriver, hose, and gloves.

To clean them you only have to remove the lid, then the filter, spray it down, you must place it again into the baffle pipe, and replace the cover. Of course, don’t forget to put the lid in its place again.
